Sunnyvale

Once a verdant oasis of fruit orchards, Sunnyvale is now a mainstay of Silicon Valley with a bounty of high-tech opportunities. In the last two decades, companies like Apple, Google, and LinkedIn have opened offices in town, transforming this sleepy suburban city into highly sought-after office space. Along with the influx of high-tech, came a downtown redevelopment project that has improved pedestrian access and reinvigorated community activity. The action centers around historic Murphy Avenue with a year-round farmers’ market, summer music series, and dining options for every palette.

Residents have their pick of neighborhoods with ranch-style homes and bungalows an ode to the area’s agricultural past, and luxury townhouses and condominiums a sign of its high-tech present. Sunnyvale is home to 772 acres of parks and open space, and proudly boasts its status as a Bicycle Friendly Community. Baylands Park is an unexpected delight, taking advantage of Sunnyvale’s bayfront boundary with 70 acres of developed parkland and an additional 105 acres of seasonal wetlands. While only a few city-owned orchards remain, the city’s humble roots have combined with urban amenities to create the ultimate quality of life.
